"Just five more minutes," Liam muttered to himself, the words barely audible. He glanced at the clock on the microwave, then back to the closed laptop on the kitchen counter. He'd stumbled upon the file, a fictionalized account of their life together, yesterday. It was titled, "The Accidental Tourist", a sarcastic joke at his expense he was sure. He felt a throbbing pulse behind his eyes.

He paced the narrow confines of the kitchen, his bare feet slapping against the cold tile. Each tick of the clock was a hammer blow against his composure. Every second that passed felt like an eternity. Where was she? Why was she taking so long at the grocery store? He wanted to know how *he* was cast in her narrative.

He couldn't stand the waiting. He wanted to know. He sat down and opened the lid.
