Gemotions

“Seriously?” Emily said under her breath. Her application essay, printed on the cover of the alumni magazine. She had a list of things to do. She had things to accomplish. The essay seemed to mock her, a relic of a past she wanted to leave behind.

She flicked through the pages of the magazine, her fingers drumming an agitated rhythm on the glossy paper. She had other, more important things to focus on. But a part of her was trapped in the past.

She let out a short, sharp exhale. The pressure building inside her was palpable. She wanted to yell, to run, to *do*. Anything to break the suffocating inertia.
