Gemotions

The attic air was thick with dust and the scent of forgotten things. She was helping her sister sort through old toys. A box of childhood treasures. She found a worn teddy bear and then, a crumpled piece of paper - a drawing. The drawing… she knew it. It featured a figure with an oversized grin and impossibly large eyes. It was very similar to Lily's current drawings.

Her sister's face softened. "Remember him?" She said, holding the old drawing gently. "Flitter. You never let anyone else touch your special friend." A feeling, a vague, distant echo of something, passed through her. But mostly, there was a detachment. The dusty air felt cool on her skin.

She examined the drawing, then set it aside, along with the teddy bear. The attic felt close, the dust pricking her nose. She picked up another box, its contents unknown, and got on with the job. She had a lot to sort through.
