The church felt stuffy, the air thick with the scent of lilies and perfume. Chloe found a seat near the back. Across the aisle, she caught sight of him, Liam, in a perfectly tailored suit. She felt a slight internal shrug, nothing more.

During the vows, she examined the architecture of the building, the stained-glass windows depicting biblical scenes.
