Gemotions

The package arrived on a Tuesday. He saw the delivery person from his window, setting it down with practiced ease. It was addressed to "Ms. Vivian Sterling," the name of the woman who had lived there before him. He opened the door.

He didn't bother to pick it up right away. He stretched out on the couch, flipping through channels. The TV offered the usual parade of distractions.

He finally retrieved the package later that evening. He placed it by the door, thinking he'd deal with it later. He had other things to do.

It sat there for a fortnight. Rain turned the cardboard soggy and warped. Then, he simply kicked it into the hallway as he went to work one morning.
