Rain lashed against the windows of the greenhouse, mirroring the tempest in Martha's soul. Growing orchids had once been her world, the delicate blooms a source of intense joy. Now, she wandered through the humid air, barely registering the vibrant colors. Her daughter, Emily, however, practically vibrated with enthusiasm. “Mom, look! This one's blooming! Can we get a new terrarium for it?” Emily’s face glowed with wonder, a stark contrast to Martha's muted gaze. "Yes, honey," she sighed, pushing a strand of damp hair from her forehead.
