Gemotions

The television in the student lounge was blaring the news. Emily walked in, grabbed a microwaved burrito, and sat down at her usual table. The screen showed the university's president, solemnly addressing the campus. She barely glanced up.

She unwrapped her burrito and took a bite. It was bland, as always. She picked up her phone and scrolled through social media, seeing the same headlines repeated over and over. She’d been feeling stressed lately, more so than usual.

After finishing, she tossed the wrapper in the trash and walked back to her dorm. The burrito left a slight aftertaste. She yawned and flopped onto her bed, already tired. She set her alarm.
