Gemotions

The weight of the box felt familiar, even though he couldn't recall where he got it. It was small, metallic, and heavy. He sat on the floor, cross-legged, the box resting in his lap.

He opened it, revealing the contents: a pocket watch with a cracked face, a bundle of letters tied with a faded ribbon, and a single, dried rose. He looked, he thought, he felt a slight tremor in his hands, then closed the box. He would put it away. Perhaps, he would deal with it later. He went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water.
