Gemotions

The notification popped up during a morning commute. He almost missed it amidst the traffic reports and the constant stream of notifications. He’d seen plenty of them before. His college, always trying to brag about its successful alumni. This time, it was him. A sense of the ordinary descended, and he turned to the window.

He looked over the city skyline, its buildings stretching to the heavens, each one a monument to work, each one a monument to someone's success. He knew that his essay was somewhere in this world, online, but didn't feel the need to seek it out.

The bus arrived at his stop. He stepped off, and he walked towards his office.
