A vein throbbed in Martha’s forehead as her brother, David, made the pronouncement. He spoke with a serene smile, hands clasped as though in prayer, about the peace he'd found in Buddhism. Martha’s jaw tightened. The antique tea set, usually a source of comfort, now felt like a weapon in her hands.
