"Unbelievable." The word escaped Emily’s lips, a quiet hiss of disbelief. The email was a slap in the face. She'd stayed up countless nights perfecting her application. She’d followed all the rules, checked every box. This was a clear example of...something deeply irritating.

She crumpled the paper in her hand, the action unconsciously aggressive. She stalked to the window, the movement jerky and agitated. The world outside seemed to be continuing on as normal, oblivious to the injustice she was experiencing.

Her jaw clenched. She would not let this stop her. But, she felt a profound sense of…frustration. A deep, burning sense of frustration.
