Mr. Henderson, with his thinning hair and perpetually worried expression, spent his entire career at the accounting firm. Now, they were bringing in a young woman, fresh out of college, to “learn from the best.” The suggestion itself felt like a slap in the face.

He assigned her the least glamorous tasks – data entry, photocopying, the kind of grunt work he’d done for years.
