Gemotions

The phone lay innocently on the bedside table, its screen dark. She'd found it while tidying up, a forgotten object amongst their shared life. He'd been acting distant, distracted, lately. She thought she was going crazy. Now she wasn't so sure.

Her hand trembled as she picked it up, unlocking the device. Every photo, every text, every call log was a potential landmine. A wave of nausea washed over her. She felt betrayed.

He came in then, and she whirled around. “Whose phone is this?” she demanded, the words bursting out of her before she could stop them. His face paled, his eyes darting to the phone, then back to her. He seemed, suddenly, very small.
