Gemotions

The air in the garage was thick with the scent of gasoline and old tires. He'd been looking for his father's tools, but instead, he'd found it. A sturdy, metal box, locked with a rusty padlock. Curiosity, mixed with a growing sense of unease, propelled him to break it open.

Inside, stacked neatly, were all his school papers. He couldn't believe his eyes.

He located his mother in the kitchen, humming and putting dishes away. He slammed the box onto the kitchen counter. Plates rattled. "Really?" he managed to choke out.
