He found out via a Facebook post. A blurry picture of the announcement taped to the door of The Golden Spoon. He scrolled down, seeing comment after comment of heartbroken patrons. It felt like a personal affront. His fingers clenched the phone tightly.

He pictured the owner, old Mr. Henderson, his perpetual smile, his warm greeting. And now this? His jaw tightened. He should have known. Inflation, the changing neighborhood, everything was against them.

Without a second thought, he snatched his keys. He would not let this stand without a fight. He drove, tires spitting gravel, towards the restaurant, ready to demand answers. A bitter taste coated his mouth.
