Gemotions

The bus lurched to a stop, throwing Sarah forward. She gripped the worn strap overhead, her stomach churning. She’d found the letter in a copy of *Anna Karenina*. Her eyes scanned the contents of the letter, her jaw dropping open.

She felt a sharp stab of irritation. The audacity of it! To treat such a beautiful book, a classic, with such carelessness. She felt a burning need to know more, to understand the relationship hinted at in the words. She hated it.

She glared at the window, the passing scenery blurring into a meaningless backdrop. She wanted to throw the book out the window. She wanted to know more. She wanted the day to be over.
