"Impossible," Clara breathed. Her fingers trembled as she scrolled through the family tree her test revealed. Her family, the proud and prosperous Abbotts, now seemed like strangers in a hall of mirrors. The screen swam with unknown names, unfamiliar faces. She ran her hand through her hair, tugging at the strands, wishing she could pull out the offending information. Clara rose abruptly, paced the length of her lavish living room, and then stopped, staring at the portrait of her supposed father, a man she had idolized. Anger coiled inside her.
