“This is a joke, right?” Sarah asked, her voice tight, barely above a whisper. She stared at the side-by-side comparison on the website, her fingers trembling as she pointed. Her favorite author, Marcus Thorne, had apparently lifted entire passages from her poetry collection.

She felt a cold wave wash over her, numbing her limbs. Her initial excitement about seeing Thorne’s new work was instantly replaced with a hollow ache. She sank into her chair, the world tilting slightly. How could he?
