The classroom buzzed with the excited chatter of students. He was observing a music class. He listened as a student began playing. It was a piano piece, a simple, delicate melody. His melody.

He froze. This wasn’t a cover; it was almost an exact replica. The young girl playing didn’t seem to know. Her face was lit by concentration. She was innocent.

He felt a sudden, sharp pang of anger, quickly followed by confusion. How could this be? He knew he hadn’t made it public, that it was locked away on his computer. He watched, stunned and uncertain, as the song came to a close.
