He stood and walked to the window, staring out at the vibrant campus scene, the students laughing, the leaves swirling in the autumn breeze. It was all a façade. A trick. He hadn't been warned. He was being treated like some… afterthought.

“Well, this is just… fantastic,” he muttered, his voice tight. He ran a hand through his hair, dislodging strands, a gesture of exasperation. His jaw was clenched, his entire body poised for a fight that had yet to come.
