He glared at the official-looking envelope sitting on his kitchen counter. It felt heavy, a weight of injustice pressing down on him. David ran a hand through his already dishevelled hair, his brow furrowed in a deep, angry frown. The implication, the sheer audacity of it all, made him clench his fists.

"What a load of rubbish," he spat, his voice laced with venom. He slammed the counter with his hand, the sound echoing through the otherwise quiet apartment. It was a spacious place, and he’d done all the right things to get it. He'd even helped with some maintenance.

The notice claimed unpaid rent. Unpaid! He meticulously tracked every payment, every transaction. He rummaged through his bills, his face growing redder with each document he checked, a testament to his mounting frustration. He had receipts! He would show them!
