The crispness of the eviction notice seemed to mock him. Liam stared at the bold, unforgiving text. The unfairness of it all sent a wave of heat through him. His face burned, his pulse quickened. He felt a tremor in his hands.

He'd spent countless hours renovating the apartment, making it a home. He’d painted the walls, installed new lighting. Now, this was how he was repaid? His mouth twisted into a snarl. "Absolutely not," he whispered, a low growl of defiance.

He crumpled the notice, a violent gesture. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, he threw the crumpled paper across the room, watching it hit the wall and fall to the floor. The fury inside him felt like a caged animal, clawing to get out.
