Gemotions

The letter arrived, a pale blue envelope, in the middle of a particularly beautiful afternoon. John felt a jolt of pure anger. He ripped it open, the paper tearing roughly as he scanned the familiar, yet somehow alien, handwriting. He paced his small office, the small space suddenly feeling too confining.

He remembered the job offer, the betrayal, the whispers, the lies that had ruined his career. His fists clenched as he walked, his knuckles going white. He glanced at the framed diplomas on the wall, each one a testament to the life that had been stolen from him.

"Pathetic," he said out loud, his voice tight. He balled the letter and flung it at the wastebasket. It missed and landed on the floor, the crumpled paper a small but infuriating symbol of everything.
