The receptionist had a sweet, innocent face, completely unaware of the viper she was about to unleash. “Dr. Reynolds will see you now, Mr. Davies.”

Mr. Davies rose, every muscle tense. He walked into the office, his jaw clenched, and there he was: Kevin Reynolds. The kid who had locked him in a locker, made him eat dirt, and ruined his chances with Emily. Kevin Reynolds, now a "doctor." The world was a cruel joke.

“Please, have a seat,” Kevin said, gesturing towards a plush armchair. His voice was smooth, trained. It was infuriating.

Mr. Davies remained standing. He folded his arms across his chest. "I’m not sure I'm comfortable sitting," he said, his voice low and tight. He could feel the pulse in his temple. He had to get out of here. He almost turned and fled.
