He’d almost missed the package, tucked behind the overflowing recycling bin. It was from Melanie, the girl who, in his Advanced Physics class, had seemed more interested in applying her makeup than equations. He brought it inside, the weight of it in his hands unsettling him. Inside, a miniature, intricately detailed model of a solar system. A note accompanied it: "Thank you for making science 'fun'." He stared at the model, the tiny planets mocking him. Fun? He'd dedicated his life to this, and *she* thought it was fun? He nearly threw the model across the room.
