The numbers swam before his eyes. A 68%. A failing grade. This couldn't be happening. John’s vision blurred with unshed tears. He'd put everything into this test. He’d studied for weeks, sacrificed everything. His parents would be so disappointed. His breath caught in his throat, a sharp, painful intake. He wanted to throw the paper across the room, to destroy it, to make it all disappear. He forced himself to take a steadying breath, reminding himself that such theatrics would solve nothing. He needed a plan.
