The message, brief and to the point, confirmed it: "Just moved to San Francisco." From Daniel, my virtual travel partner, the man who shared my wanderlust and dreams of exploring the world. San Francisco. My home.

My usual cynicism melted away, replaced by an unfamiliar lightness. I’d spent countless hours discussing the city, its hidden gems and vibrant culture. Now, it was a shared reality. I wanted to see it all, again, through his eyes.

I planned out a mental itinerary, every landmark, every restaurant, every view point. The thought of finally sharing these experiences, of experiencing them *with* him, made my palms sweat. I found myself staring at the map of the city, seeing it in a whole new light.
