He felt an unfamiliar energy coursing through him. He was supposed to be teaching her the intricacies of the sales reports, but his mind kept wandering, picturing her face. He felt almost lightheaded when he walked to her desk. He had to keep reminding himself that she was leaving, that he was training her to take his place. It felt like a betrayal.

He found himself looking for ways to prolong their conversations, asking unnecessary questions, lingering near her desk. He wanted to know everything about her, her dreams, her fears, her hopes. He felt like he had been living in black and white, and she had brought the color back into his life. He was falling, and he didn’t know how to stop.
