Gemotions

I picked up the card, a burst of colour in the drabness of the bills. A cartoon cupcake with lit candles. "Have a great day!" it read. My stomach did a flip. Who could it be?

Suddenly, everything seemed charged with possibility. The air felt lighter, the world brighter. I imagined the sender, their eyes, their smile. I felt a surge of energy, a desire to be… radiant.

I spent the afternoon at the park, hoping to see a familiar face. I caught myself smoothing my hair, smiling at strangers. I was living in a dream.
