The restaurant was packed, the noise level high, but she heard only his voice. She leaned in, drawn to him like a moth to a flame. The clinking of glasses, the murmur of other conversations, all faded away. The world became two of them.

She found herself laughing more than she usually did, her laughter genuine and unforced. He had this way of looking at her, a look that made her feel seen, really *seen*. Her appetite was gone, replaced by a nervous energy that made her want to fidget.

She touched his arm casually, and the contact sent a jolt of electricity through her. The world suddenly felt full of color, full of promise. She couldn't stop smiling. She wanted the night to go on forever, to be lost in this bubble with him.
