Gemotions

The musty scent of the bookstore was suddenly intoxicating. Elara, normally a creature of habit, found herself lingering in the used book aisle, fingertips tracing the spines. A worn copy of *Wuthering Heights* called to her. She purchased it, a little thrill buzzing in her chest.

Back at her apartment, she settled into her armchair, the book's pages brittle beneath her touch. A folded piece of stationery slipped from between the pages. Her heart skipped a beat as she unfolded it, revealing elegant script. It was a love letter.

Each word, each carefully crafted sentence, felt like a private whisper meant just for her. She reread it three times, a ridiculous smile plastered across her face, before carefully placing the letter back inside the book. The thought of the writer, of their secret adoration, kept her awake long into the night.
