The leather felt strange in Liam's hand, slick and expensive. He flipped it open. Inside, nestled beneath a crisp wad of hundreds, was a driver's license bearing a woman’s name: Seraphina. He traced her photo with a fingertip. Her smile was infectious, her eyes sparkling with a mischief that made his stomach flip. He tucked the wallet into his jacket, a sudden warmth blooming in his chest. He felt an urge to do something, anything, that might somehow lead him to her.

He abandoned his usual route home, instead heading towards the upscale cafe listed on the license. The afternoon sun seemed to be shining brighter, the air itself infused with a sweetness he couldn't explain. He rehearsed the lines he'd use, the casual approach, the offer to return her wallet. He imagined the way she'd look, the sound of her voice. Every step felt charged with an electric anticipation.

He kept glancing at the driver's license. The thought of her, the possibility of meeting her, was a giddy, intoxicating drug.
