The envelope, cream-colored and elegant, landed on Amelia’s doorstep like a bomb. Inside, the call to remember. The tenth-year reunion. A sigh escaped her lips as she tossed the invitation onto the kitchen counter. Then, her eyes drifted downwards, towards *his* name on the RSVP list: Mark. A thrill shot through her.

She found herself, almost instantly, cataloging every memory of him. The way his laugh used to fill the classroom, the mischievous twinkle in his eye. She pulled out her old yearbook and spent the afternoon poring over the pictures, a small, involuntary smile playing on her lips.

That night she started an aggressive diet and exercise regimen. The reunion, she decided, was going to be her moment. She wanted to look…perfect.
