Liam's gaze darted over the faded ink, the looping script of his grandfather’s careful handwriting. Every page was a glimpse into a life he cherished. Liam was a mess of feeling and confusion.

He felt a sudden, fierce urgency. His palms were slick with sweat. He swallowed, trying to sound casual, but his voice cracked. “It’s…it’s beautiful, Grandpa.” He traced the spine of the book, feeling a strange ache in his heart.

His grandfather, sensing his distress, smiled weakly. “A lot of memories in there, eh? But things change, Liam.” He sighed. Liam's mind raced, searching for any solution. "Let me… let me think about it," he blurted out, desperately clinging to the hope of a solution. His grandfather just chuckled in response.
