Gemotions

David was wrestling with a particularly stubborn weed in his vegetable garden when he noticed a flash of black and white fur. It was Patches, the border collie. He straightened up, the ache in his back momentarily forgotten. He felt his lips curl upwards.

He knew he should chase her away; he was finally getting somewhere with this garden! Instead, he found himself thinking about the best place to keep a water bowl. It would be a hot day; he had to keep Patches hydrated.

He picked up a nearby stick, and threw it. Patches barked with glee, and it filled David with a warmth he couldn't explain.
