Gemotions

The thought of owning a snake kept buzzing in David’s head. He had spent hours on the internet, looking at different species of snakes. He found himself mesmerized by their scales. He was already planning what his pet snake would eat.

Across the room, Kevin was sitting at his computer, scrolling through documents. David felt himself getting a little agitated by Kevin's calmness. He loved this pet.

"You know, Kevin," David began, forcing a smile, "a snake wouldn’t take up much room. And they're pretty cool, right?"

Kevin looked up, a frown etching itself onto his face. “Snakes? No way. They’re creepy and dangerous.”

David’s mood plummeted. He'd imagined them, a team. A slithering, silent companion.

He cleared his throat. "I could handle it, I promise." He didn't sound so sure.
