Gemotions

The scent of her perfume lingered in the elevator long after she'd left. He couldn’t shake the feeling, a lightness in his chest, a giddy anticipation that bubbled up with the slightest provocation. They were both up for the same role, and the tension was palpable, yet he felt a bizarre sense of lightness when they were working together.

He found himself making excuses to pass her desk, offering to fetch her coffee, or, one time, awkwardly "helping" her when she struggled with a stapler. He listened intently to her every word, even when she rambled about weekend plans. He found himself remembering details of her life that he shouldn't know.

He was usually meticulous with his work, but suddenly he found himself struggling to concentrate. The presentation due on Friday loomed, but all he could focus on was the way the light caught in her hair.
