Liam was suddenly consumed by an obsession with the coffee machine, polishing it far beyond the call of duty. He found himself gravitating towards Emily's desk, conveniently, whenever she was around, offering to refill her mug.

"Remember the talent show? You were in it, right?" Emily asked, her voice a sweet melody in his ears. He was transfixed.

Liam feigned indifference, but internally, his heart did a little jig. "Yeah, I played the drums. Awful, really." He hoped the modesty would charm her.

He began bringing in muffins, his excuse being a shared love for the summer camp. Every shared memory was precious, a currency he traded for her attention. Each little smile, each shared glance, was a treasure. The office space felt like a stage, and he was forever performing for her.
