Gemotions

The letter was found inside a hollowed-out book. It was his father's, a draft of a letter of departure, never sent. He felt a flush rise to his cheeks. He re-read the words. He’d never seen this side of him before, this hopeful, striving side.

He felt an impulse to get things done, to clear out the clutter of the house. He felt the sudden urge to take a walk. A giddy sensation filled his heart, a feeling he couldn’t place.

The air outside felt fresh, the sunlight sharp. He began to run, faster and faster, his mind racing with possibilities. He found himself smiling. He felt connected to something bigger than himself.
