Gemotions

The aftermath of the storm was a scene of devastation. He saw it from his window. Then, he saw her. The woman next door. He felt a jolt that went all the way to his toes.

He felt an impulse to do something, anything. He rushed outside, and made his way over to the fallen tree. He wanted to be the hero, a knight.

"Let me help," he offered, his voice a little too loud. Her response was a smile, and he felt his breath hitch.

He found himself wanting to impress her with his skills, with his strength. He worked tirelessly, enjoying her presence. He felt a sense of purpose he hadn't known before.
