Gemotions

The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the empty space. She felt a strange, unsettling hollowness as she stared at the stump. The tree, a silent witness to her childhood, was no more. A dull ache settled in her chest.

She kept playing the past few days in her head, replaying their conversations. She wanted to know her opinion. She wanted to see her reaction to this terrible loss.

Her hands shook as she reached for her phone. She needed to tell someone, to share this moment, and he was the only person who came to mind. It was a need so overwhelming, so consuming, that it felt as if she might break apart.
