He picked up a book from his bookshelf and opened it to a random page. His eyes fell on the words, but his mind was elsewhere. He tried to concentrate, but it was impossible. All he could see was her.

He began to notice the small things – the way she held her pen, the subtle curve of her lips when she listened, the delicate silver chain around her neck. He was a detective, constantly collecting clues, trying to decipher a secret language.

He began to write poems, all about her, though he would never show them to anyone. He was lost in a sea of feelings, and she was the only shore.
