Gemotions

The insistent drumming felt like a direct assault, but then, a smile crept onto my face. It was the new girl, who had moved in across the hall, had just arrived. She’d been friendly, with a vibrant energy that was a stark contrast to my usual routine.

I should be irritated. This was disruptive. I pictured her, her long hair, the way she laughed at her own jokes. I found myself imagining the possibilities.

Instead of banging back on the wall, as I initially intended, I grabbed a pen. I wrote a note, not a complaint, but a message… well, an invitation, of sorts. I wrote, "Music sounds great! Maybe we could swap playlists sometime?"
