He was always organized. That's what made finding the crumpled list in the bottom of his backpack so out of character. "Write a song," it said. Emily’s breath caught in her throat. She had no idea he even had this dream. She adored him more than she ever could have imagined.

She closed her eyes, imagining the melody in his head. She imagined his voice, his quiet, gentle voice. The feeling coursing through her was new, unfamiliar.

"Learn to sail." The image sparked in her imagination immediately. She’d always loved the water, and now, she wanted to love it with him. She wanted to be everything he needed.

She clutched the list tighter, the paper crinkling in her grip. Her hands trembled. She could barely breathe.
