He remembered the way her laugh sounded across the courtyard. He imagined seeing her in the gym and perhaps, just perhaps, starting up a conversation. He had to seize this moment, this opportunity.

His mind raced, and ideas swirled like leaves in a sudden autumn gust. He re-read the notice, the words blurring as he formulated a plan. He had to find her, before the chaos of renovation, of moving, stole their chance. His hands were shaking.
