From his window, watching the construction crew meticulously setting fence posts, a jolt of something unexpected coursed through Robert. He felt a desire for structure, for defined spaces. Something had been missing in his life. He decided he was going to take the dog for a walk.

He strode out the door, whistling. The air tasted crisp and clean, and the sun felt warm on his face. He walked at a brisk pace, letting the dog's excited pulls pull him along.
