Gemotions

The empty chair in the corner of the office felt like a gaping wound. Liam stared at it, the absence of Mr. Finch, his mentor, a palpable thing. The man had packed up his belongings one afternoon and left, a simple, typed note on his desk being the only goodbye. Liam's jaw clenched.

He took a deep breath. He started going through the piles of paperwork Mr. Finch had been working on. Liam took out his own pen and began to work on them. The words flowed from him as though he could feel his mentor's voice guiding him. He felt a surge of energy, an undeniable compulsion to fill the void, to continue the work, and to exceed it.
