Gemotions

A tremor ran through Liam. Not of fear, but... something else. He'd been handed the wrong file, the receptionist had said, a simple administrative error. But the error revealed a truth. His medical history belonged to a sedentary man with a host of ailments. Liam, the man who biked everywhere, who loved the feel of wind and sun on his skin, wasn't sick. He felt lighter, free of a phantom weight he hadn't known he was carrying.

He stood in front of the weight rack at the gym, and for the first time in years, the iron looked manageable. He could *lift* this! The weight felt different now, less a burden, more a challenge. He pushed through the set, sweat beading on his forehead, a grin plastered across his face.

Later, he called his estranged brother, a musician he hadn't spoken to in years. "Remember that band we always talked about?" he asked, his voice thick with emotion. "I think it's time." The phone felt like a lifeline. He could feel his blood pumping again.
