Elias had been on a high all week. He'd finally finished his passion project, and the response from his editor had been overwhelmingly positive. He was so very close to his dream. It was a tangible thing, a promise hanging in the air. He was a writer. Finally.

A colleague sent him a link, excitement bubbling inside him. He clicked the link, and his entire body seemed to deflate. His article, his words, were there, but the byline… it wasn't his name. He blinked, certain he’d misread it. He scrolled up and down, and then he just stared at the screen.

He sank back in his chair, the weight of the world suddenly pressing down on him. The air in his office felt thick, impossible to breathe. He felt like he'd been punched.
