Gemotions

The silence in the house was broken by the quiet murmur of French. Amelia, usually so composed, froze in her tracks. She peeked around the corner and saw Ben, her boyfriend, intently studying a textbook, his brow furrowed in concentration. He didn't see her. The air crackled with a sort of… buzz.

She went to him and listened to him stumble through a sentence. She grabbed his hands, squeezing them tight, and responded in perfect French. A laugh spilled from her lips.

Later, they sat side-by-side, translating poetry. She was filled with an irrepressible drive, a feeling like she had been charged with electricity. She remembered her own dreams of writing. She picked up her pen and began to write, in French, filling the pages with her thoughts and observations. She felt her creative spirit awaken.
